18K Gold E. Howard & Co., Boston, Massachusetts, Hunter Case Key-Wind Pocket Watch with Eagle and Key, Circa Early 1860's. Serial number 5524, Series II, Size N (Approximately 18s). Engraved and dated on main wheel for Reeds Barrel Patent, 1857. Includes steel key #6. Beautifully hand engraved stippled case with framed patriotic eagle clutching ribbon in claws and beak on front cover opposite flowers, encircled by stars on either side. Stamped with raised crown over "18" inside tombstone mark, with raised case maker initials "C & F" and numbered. Offset hinges. There is moderate wear to case release button, with faint hairline crack extending from center of dial to outer edge near 11 o'clock position, otherwise excellent condition.
