Tempera on masonite. Don Stone painted from a summer studio on Monhegan Island, Maine, and a winter studio in Exeter, New Hampshire. Considered the dean of the Monhegan artist community, his landscapes and water scenes are painted in an impressionistic style. He was elected to full membership in the National Academy of Design (N.A.), the American Watercolor Society (Dolphin Fellow), American Society of Marine Artists (Fellow), Salmagundi Club (Honorary Member), and the New England Watercolor Society (Lifetime Honorary Member). Labels from Whistler's Daughter Art Gallery, Basking Ridge, NJ. on reverse.
