Pair of cased superposed percussion belt pistols. 5", .54 caliber smoothbore pistols with swivel mounted rammers. One piece checkered walnut grips with cap compartment in butt. Marked "Moillens and Gem London" on rear tangs. Engraved with tight scrolls and vines on hammers, sideplates, and trigger guards. Butts have floral design engraved in cap and geometric patterns encompassing perimeter of buttcap. Cased in a green wool lines English oak case with Dixon flask with ball compartment, wadcutter with no markings, and period turnscrew. A small amount of wads and ball are found internally as well. A believed contemporary label is found inside the lid of the case with the Collins of London brand listed. CONDITION: Very good as found with action operating and bores are fine. Stocks are good with sharp checkering. One pistol has evidence of a repaired crack in the wrist of the grip that is both professionally done and very rigid. Case is very attractive as refinished externally and well preserved. TDW
