Dovetail lump Damascus 32 - 1/4" barrels with brass front bead, matted concave rib with engraved dolls head extension, single line engraving at breech, proofed on underside of barrels and marked with "NOT FOR BALL" and serial number. Extractors. Barrel flats vacant. Top of barrels reads " W & C SCOTT AND SON (BOGARDUS GUN CLUB) MAKERS" on right barrel, "& PATENTEES LONDON" on left. Checkered splinter forend with case colored and engraved escutcheon and long tab release with checkering in finger rest. Iron case colored on interior with two iron screws case colored and marked with serial number, wood screw case colored. Five pin case colored sidelock action with detachable sideplates engraved with tight border engraving and oak leaves. Recoil shields engraved with tightly executed scroll, and hammers are enclosed within rays. Action flats with patent information, serial number, proof mark, and W&C Scott Tower insignia. Opening lever engraved with further scrolls and checkered. Strawed firing pins and scalloped hammers with simple border line engraving. Trigger guard and bottom plate further engraved. Long tang with W&C Scott tower insignia and serial number. Relatively plain stock with Prince of Wales grip and checkered through wrist in point pattern, terminating in a horn buttstock and a vacant brass shield near toe. Inletting job for horn buttplate somewhat rough. Accompanied by a contemporary green canvas case with partitions to fit barrels, forend, and receiver in separate compartments. CONDITION: Very fine as masterfully restored. Retains virtually all of its reapplied finishes, with a few very minor losses and some visible oxidation under new finishes. A few screws have been marred, and one hammer screw has lost much of its nitre bluing. Opening lever to the right. Action works appropriately when operated by hand, bores are very good with some minor oxidation in the bores of each barrel. Case is fine. A very attractive and well restored W.C. Scott & Son. EW
