11-1/2" cast round barrel with banded cannon muzzle decorated with a gilded figures of a knight, a woman (Germania?) holding a crescent moon, and a huntress with a spear, intercepting birds, and florals and geometrics throughout. Bone nosecap with florals is essentially two scales over the stock. Cast lock with camming sliding pan cover, decorated with German vines. Wheel cover decorated with gilded Imperial eagle. Brass pan with florals. Camming lock with simple geometrics. Stock is extensively inlaid with bone and brass wire, with depictions of a German soldier with rifle, various faces, an Imperial eagle, and florals. Backstrap decorated with cast brass straps decorated with florals and faces, which terminates in a band. Bulbous butt with more bone inlays and brass straps depicting birds and faces. Butt of ball with grotesque in the form of a lion. CONDITION: Fine. Barrel essentially gunmetal grey with plenty of gilding left on the figures on barrel, rubbing on high edges. Wood is excellent with just a few marks from handling and operation, one small chip missing at bottom of lock and some impressions from where cock has bumped against wood. A few inlays are replaced. Action works appropriately when operated by hand (no crank included), bore is fine with some roughness. EW
