Both pistols with 11 - 3/4" octagon to round barrels seperated by a wedding band, plain steel locks with "C.O." on interiors. Slender dark European dense wood stocks with relief carving of a monster (Chimera?) at ramrod entrance. Flared buttcap. Dense dark wood ramrods, possibly the original, with steel tip decorated with facets. Faceted floral patterned steel furniture including ramrod ferrules, trigger guard, trigger, buttcap, tang finials, lock finials, and reverse of one lock screw. CONDITION: Very good, barrels have been polished over some old minor oxidation, with some age related staining. One lock screw faceted piece possibly a replacement. Stocks are very good, with some bumps and bruises; one pistol has a small scrape at butt, missing a very small sliver along right side of forearm, and has two tight cracks along right side, one at buttcap to wrist and one from lock finial to wedding band, and one small chip at one ramrod ferrule; other with small chip at butt and two tight cracks at butt, two small cracks above trigger guard, one minor crack at forearm, and one crack from behind reverse lock screw to barrel. One action will hold on cock but trigger will not release the cock, other tumbler has worn down and infrequently catches. Bores are very good with a few spots of oxidation. PROVENANCE: Sold by Greg Martin November 2007, Lot 1053. Ex. W.G. Renwick Collection, and sold by Sotheby's London, 1973, as Lot 23. According to previous description (included), Renwick's 1971 inventory listed the pistols as Swiss and numbered 917. EW
