Rare & Important 18K Yellow Gold Louis Raby, Paris, Quarter-Hour Repeating Triple-Date Calendar Hunter Case Pocket Watch with Moonphases, Circa 1870.Cuvette marked "Louis Raby, Hger de l'Empereur, No. 4 Bvart des Italiens, Paris, No. 2365" beneath a beautifully hand engraved family crest/shield, or coat of arms design. The case is hallmarked in several places. As well as being the "Horloger de L'Empereur", Louis Raby was also an excellent apprentice to Abraham-Louis Breguet. Louis Raby is described by George Daniels in his definitive work The Art of Breguet as being one of Breguet's most talented pupils, surpassing even the Master in the execution of his own pendule sympathique (pg. 90).
