Ubu nakago, signed, with single mekugi-ana. Attractive midare hamon. Habaki with flashes of copper. Pierced tsuba with decorations of flowers, fuchi also decorated with flowers. Tsuka with ray skin wrap, menuki in the form of flowers. Kashira with loop. Metal saya with brown lacquer finish and good traces of gilding on furniture. Standard locking mechanism in fuchi. CONDITION: Very good. Blade is excellent, in nearly full polish with a few very minor openings and dotted spotting. Two areas of attempted cleaning on right side of blade. Furniture very good with some losses to lacquer and gilding largely flaked away, with more retained in protected areas such as at fuchi. A great example of a World War II officer's katana. EW
