Dovetail lump Damascus barrels with brass front bead on concave game rib engraved "STEPHEN GRANT, 67A ST JAMES'S STREET, LONDON". Bottom of barrels with "4007" and E.C.H. stamp. Barrel flats with view and proof marks, provisional proof, and 12 gauge proof. Splinter forearm retained by single key with "4007" on interior iron. Exterior iron engraved with scroll and geometrics. Receiver engraved with well executed scroll and floral border engraving. Back action locks engraved en suite. Dolphin form hammers engraved en suite. Trigger guard and tang engraved en suite. English straight grip stock with point pattern checkering, vacant silver oval at toe, and terminating in skeleton buttplate. Comes in a leather case with "J.H.B" initials on lid, interior with Grant's trade label and charge table denoted for this gun at 3 drams and 1 1/8 oz of shot. Accessories comprise two piece cleaning rod, two mop shells, horsehair (?) brush, snapcaps, oiler, pull through in wallet, and wooden jar, probably for patches. Also is a fresh piece of cedar, presumably for warding off moths. CONDITION: Very good as restored by Vern Brinkerhoff, retaining the vast majority of its restoration. Barrels with some scattered light marks from light field use, silvering towards muzzles. Receiver engraving softened as a result of cleaning. Wood stocks excellent, with some scattered handling marks. Case is very good with normal scrapes and abrasions acquired over time, relined. Paper labels are good, foxed, with some staining. EW
