The U.S. Springfield Armory produced the M-2 .22 caliber rifle from 1933 until 1942 for a total production of 11,171 rifles. This example, serial number 12373 was manufactured in May 1942 by evidence of the date code 5-42 and the U.S. Ordnance mark found on the muzzle of barrel. Adjustable head space locking lug. 24" round barrel. Fully adjustable receiver mounted aperture sight and high ramp, hooded blade front sight. One piece straight grain, pistol grip, walnut stock, with single barrel band. Sling provisions mounted to barrel band and buttstock. Correct clip marked "M-2". Steel checkered buttplate. CONDITION: Excellent plus. 98% Armory applied parkerized finish remaining. Wood is excellent showing very little wear. Bore is bright. Action is tight and crisp. -MKS-
