Manufactured 1864. The Joslyn Model 1864 carbine was chambered for the .56-56 rimfire cartridge but could also fire the standard proprietary Joslyn cartridge as well. 22" round barrel with US inspection "FDL" at breech, three position two leaf military rear sight. Serial numbered 6586 on breech cap and tang. Lock marked "JOSLYN FIRE ARMS CO STONINGTON CONN 1864". One piece walnut stock with one barrel retaining band. Steel butt plate and steel two piece trigger guard assembly. Carbine has carbine sling bar and ring for Cavalry use. CONDITION: Good with most metal parts being a mottled patina. The bore is very good with slight roughness. The stock is good with typical bruises and scrapes and several minor gouges from period use. Inspection cartouche is still evident and discernible. TDW
