Manufactured 1866-1871. Total production of 112,000 rifles and carbines combined. 20" round barrel chambered for the .50 caliber rimfire cartridge. Case colored receiver marked "PEABODY'S PATD. JULY 22. 1862 MAN'F'D BY PROVIDENCE TOOL CO PROV. RI". Back action lock with trigger guard/finger lever. Two piece straight grained American walnut stocks with single barrel band and steel carbine buttplate of case colored finish. W.C. inside of of oval inspectors cartouche at wrist with numerous manufacturers inspections markings on small parts. CONDITION: Very fine with over 90% of the factory rust blue finish remaining on barrel. Bore is bright with sharp lands and groves. The receiver, lock, and finger lever retain over 80% of their respective mottled case colors. The walnut stocks are very fine with some minor bruises from storage but remain fine with no distress or material loss. TDW
