Most desirable early Ainsworth inspected U.S. Colt Cavalry single action army revolver, serial number 4186. Matching serial numbers observed on barrel, frame, trigger guard, backstrap, and cylinder. Rarely seen matching serial number on inside of ejector housing. Small cylinder stops. Single cartouche visible on grip left side. Correct "donut" ejector rod. Initial "A" observed on barrel, triggerguard, and cylinder. Italicized barrel address and two line patent dates on left side of frame. Marked with small "U.S." on left side of frame. Typical 7 - 1/2" barrel with one piece walnut grips. CONDITION: Excellent overall. Strong traces of original blue under the ejector housing and on flute of the ejector housing. Strong traces of original case color on hammer. Balance of revolver is a gunmetal grey patina. Grips are fine with rounded corners. Cartouche is faint, yet legible. Bore is fine with moderate abrasion. Action is tight, however the main spring is a bit weak. Operates correctly and quite well. -MKS-
