Early bar-in-wood hammer gun with plain top rib that has small mid and large white front beads with makers name and address. There is a small wedge of scroll on rib at breech end. Small splinter forend with elongated lever release which is finely scroll engraved and forend is checkered in point pattern with flat top checkering. The bar in wood action is near full coverage scroll engraved. Straight top lever. Made with double triggers. Straight grip buttstock with long trigger guard tang which is also scroll engraved, and has tear drops behind action, small gold oval near toe and terminates with a brown leather covered pad. Housed in what appears to be its original full leather case with green felt lining and has makers label on top with loading card as well. Includes a second set of fitted W.C. Scott steel barrels. These are fitted to the action but very slightly off face. CONDITION: Excellent as partially restored. Barrels retain nearly all of their Damascus pattern. Stocks are sound and retain most of an older professional refinish, checkering slightly thinned. Lock plates retain about 30% original case color, balance has toned. Bores with minor orange peel, but overall very good for a gun of this vintage. Case is good with rubs and losses. Straps are replacements. JTH
