Built by the Sharps Rifle Manufacturing Company in Hartford, Connecticut, this New Model 1863 musket was originally built as a percussion and converted to .50-70 with three groove lined barrel and designated the Model 1868. Blued rifled barrel marked "New Model 1863". Rear adjustable flip sight and blade front. Case hardened receiver with Sharps and Lawrence patents. Original 6 groove rifled barrel. Cam type conversion. Walnut military style full stock with three barrel bands and "A.W.M." stamping in front of action and "D.F.C." on left side of the buttstock. Original iron patchbox in stock. CONDITION: 80% original blue with light coating of crazed oil. Case colors fading to a plum color. Oil soaked wood with sharp cartouches. Good bore and mechanics. DLM
