1901 vintage Model 1893 Deluxe Rifle serial number 229334. Factory engraved and gold plated (believed to be the work of Conrad Ulrich). Embellished with classic Marlin/Ulrich #5 engraving patterns. Left side of frame features an oval panel scene with a buck and doe stag in a woodland scene surrounded by scroll engraving with stippled backgrounds and fancy borders. Top of frame is hand engraved "-MARLIN SAFETY-" Right side of frame features detailed scroll engraving with stippled backgrounds and fancy borders. Same scroll engraving located on the barrel takedown lug, forearm cap and mount for loading lever. Fancy border engraving on hammer, loading lever, top of frame, and upper tang. 26" half octagon to round barrel and full length magazine tube. Barrel marked "-FOR BLACK POWDER-" on left side flat at the breech. Lyman blade front sight with ivory bead. Standard rear barrel sight. Chambered in .38-55 caliber. Take-down frame. Highly figured, flame grain deluxe pistol grip stock and forearm with finely cut checkering featuring fleur-de-lis ribbons. Gold with blue barrel, magazine tube, and case hardened hammer. Black hard rubber Marlin marked buttplate. CONDITION: Excellent overall. Approximately 95% original gold plating. 95% original blue on barrel and magazine tube, with some moderate freckling at the muzzle. 90+% bright case color on hammer. Bore is bright and clean. Action is tight and crisp. Overall a rare and most attractive vintage rifle, worthy of the finest collection. -MKS-
