Lot consists of (A) Stevens 44 with 30" half octagon barrel chambered for .38-55 with serial number 2544 found on lower tang and bottom of barrel forward of forearm. Blue and case color finishes with varnished 2 piece American walnut stock with Swiss butt. Fitted with a contemporary mid-range tang sight. CONDITION: Good overall with the receiver having turned plum the barrel finish is a mottled blue/brown patina with a cleaned area above the chamber. The bore is is good with strong rifling and light frosting in the grooves. The stocks are good, full sized with no cracks and an abundance of original varnish. (B) Stevens 44 with 26" round barrel chambered for .22 LR. Two piece American walnut stocks with Swiss butt. Blue and case color finishes with mid-range target tang sight. CONDITION: Good with excellent bore and properly operating action. Barrel retains 60% original blue with balance turning plum. Receiver has silvered out with areas of patina. The wood stocks are solid without cracks and have most of their varnish remaining. TDW
CORRECTION: Both rifles in this lot are Stevens Model 44's, not 44-1/2's as previously stated.
