The Stevens model 425 was introduced in 1911 and produced until 1917 with a total production of approximately 1000 guns according to Brophy on p. 658 of his Marlin book. Produced with a tilting bolt not unlike the Savage 99 and a solid top receiver much like the Marlin 1893. (A) Serial number 4824 and chambered for .30-30 Remington with 22" round barrel with drift adjustable front sight and elevator adjustable rear sight. Barrel is marked "STEVENS HIGH POWER 425 NICKEL STEEL". Mounted with a 2 piece varnished American stocks with steel checkered crescent butt plate. CONDITION: Very good with over 70% original blue finish remaining with losses mostly on magazine and at edges. Bore is good and action operates properly. Stocks are very good with abundant varnish remaining with no cracks or material loss. (B) Serial number 4837 and chambered for the .32 Remington cartridge, 22" round barrel with drift adjustable blade front sight and elevator adjustable rear sight. Blue finish with 2 piece varnished American walnut stocks with checkered steel crescent buttplate. Barrel is marked ":STEVENS HIGH POWER 425 NICKEL STEEL". CONDITION: Good with fine bore and action operates properly. Over 65% of the factory blue finish remains with the stocks having retained most of the varnish with no cracks or material loss.
