(C) LOT OF 2: REMINGTON MODEL 1903 & BATTLE DAMAGED ENFIELD NO. I MK III* BOLT ACTION RIFLES.

Lot consists of a Remington Model 1903 and a battle damaged Enfield No. I MK III* bolt action rifles. (A) Model 1903 manufactured by Remington in 1942. Metal components have been reparkerized, with most small proofs being obliterated. Stock does not retain any manufacturer or inspector proofs. Scant stock with high hump upper handguard. Buttplate manufactured by Smith Corona. Receiver, trigger guard, floorplate, barrel bands, and sling swivels are milled. Complete with leather sling. CONDITION: Metal components retain the vast majority of their reapplied parkerized finish, showing some wear all around. Nice bright bore, with well defined rifling throughout. Stock is good, showing some handling marks and wear to it's reapplied varnish. (B) No. I MK III* rifle manufactured by Enfield in 1917. Receiver, bolt, rear sight, nose cap, and stock are matching. The right side of the receiver is stamped "Crown / G.R./ 1917/ SHTLE/ III*". The forend, upper handguard, and barrel have been struck by shrapnel, with the lower handguard showing some losses and a crack on the right hand side, the upper handguard showing substantial losses and a crack running along the length of the handguard, and the barrel exhibiting a hole with a bulge on the opposite side. Bottom of trigger guard has had numbers painted on and has a layer of lacquer over the paint. CONDITION: Metal components retain some of their arsenal applied blue finish, showing wear all around, which is to be expected from a war time rifle. Bore is fair, showing areas of pitting and corrosion, but retains strong rifling throughout. Stock shows numerous nicks and dings from usage, as well as a shrapnel strike through the forearm and upper handguard. MLW
