Dovetail lump barrels with concave game rib and diminutive brass bead front sight. Rib marked "W.J. Jeffery & CO Ltd. 13 King Street, St. James London" and light scroll at rear most section of rib. Light line engraving at barrel breeches. Underside of barrels with serial numbers, ribs numbered "1884". Proofs on barrels and action flats, including a nitro proof. Visible braze line from lump attachment under left barrel. Splinter forend with Anson release engraved with florals on the exposed parts of iron. Interior of iron with matching numbers. Sidelock engraved with well executed tight scroll and enclosed vignettes of florals. Non auto safety. Recoil shields with more scroll interlaced with a crown design. Action flats with view marks and serial number. English straight stock with point pattern checkering through wrist and long tang. Vacant shield at toe, with some brass gilding left. Checkered buttstock cast off. Accompanied by a canvas wrapped case with "P.E.C." on lid. W.J. Jeffrey paper label in lid. One compartment partition was removed at right side in order to make space for the stock; not the original case for this gun. Lined in wine red wool and containing a two piece wooden cleaning rod. CONDITION: Fine as reconditioned. Barrels retain virtually all of their black with a few minor spots of silver, probably from gentle field use. Forearm excellent with an extra application of varnish added, metal essentially dove grey. Action very good, essentially dove grey, with nicely visible engraving. Wood has had an extra application of varnish, with softness to sharp edges. Ejectors are well timed. Case is very good, with some rubs and missing partition as mentioned above, but otherwise complete. EW
CORRECTION: For clarification photos show that one side of the case handle is detached. Buyers should note the case is in need of restoration and is not original to the gun.
