Springfield Model 1842 percussion smoothbore musket dated 1852 on the lock. Smoothbore musket barrel with blade front sight. Walnut wood stock with three barrel bands. Original ramrod. PROVENANCE: Comes with picture of Coblentz Family home in Middletown, Maryland. Card with rifle states that rifle was used at The Battle of South Mountain by a Coblentz family member and hung above the mantle until sold by Michael Coblentz in 2009. CONDITION: Metal parts have worn to a rusty brown patina. Wood has well used dry appearance with a brass plate period repair over the wrist. Dark bore with good mechanics. DLM
