Manufactured 1913. With a production of just over 15000 guns the US Navy Marked 1911 has always been one of the most desired examples of the 1911 Colt pistol. Serial number 39531 is marked "MODEL OF 1911 U.S. NAVY" on right side of slide with traditional two line Colt slide address on left side of slide. Frame is inspected WGP intertwined in a circle (Walter Pennfield). Short checkered wide hammer with long trigger and short grip safety. Pistol has been phosphate finished for later military use. Checkered brown plastic World War II grips with commercial blue magazine marked "COLT 45 AUTO" on base. Barrel is marked with small RA in circle on bottom of chamber. CONDITION: Good with most all later arsenal phosphate finish remaining. Bore is serviceable with darkness in grooves. Action operates properly. Grips are lightly worn. A very rare example rarely offered for sale. TDW
