18th century, fine Miquelet Caucasian pistol with fruitwood stock. Extensive silver overlay that is period embellished with Ottoman designs and fine silver wire wrap on barrel. Ball butt with button trigger and brass lanyard swivel with matching escutcheon. The 11 - 1/4" .50 caliber tapered barrel with cannon muzzle is lightly gold wire inlaid around an unidentified period touch mark. CONDITION: Very fine as lightly cleaned. The fruitwood stock remains very fine with a almost indiscernible splice at rear silver wire banding. The barrel is bright with light period roughness with the gold wire remaining fully intact. The heavily embellished silver overlay is very fine with very light wear at backstrap but remains intact and quite elegant. The Miquelet lock operates properly and had very light corrosion on frizzen. Remarkably fine as cleaned and preserved. TDW
