Dreyse cocking mechanism on right side of barrel with single trigger and toggling safety to rear of trigger. One piece checkered walnut stock with case colored trigger guard. Small nickel silver shield inlaid to rear of tang in stock. This very early cartridge pistol produced in Austria and designed by Dreyse was one of the early transitional cartridge arms of the period evolving into what later became the very successful needle fire rifles used extensively by Europe's larger militaries. CONDITION: Very fine with over 95% of the original blue finish remaining on the barrel with balance thinning to an even patina. Trigger guard retains an equal amount of faded case colors. The stock is very fine with very light surface/handling wear with no chips, breaks, or material loss. Action operates properly. A very rare opportunity to own one of Europe's least common developmental pistols. TDW
