This is a rare albumen sepia toned boudoir photograph of 22 Apache scouts and 1 white man. These were most likely scouts from the San Carlos Reservation. They are wearing Mills prairie style cartridge belts and are armed with Springfield trapdoor rifles. This image is attributed to Elias A. Bonine (1843-1916), a Los Angeles based photographer active in the 1880's in Yuma Arizona. These scouts were used by the U.S. military to chase and track renegade Apaches refusing to comply with government orders to surrender. With further research, some of these scouts can most likely be identified. Measures: 8-1/2" x 5-1/2". CONDITION: Very good. There is light age commensurate edge wear and rubs. BRM
