1912 vintage Model 1886 Saddle Ring Carbine, serial number 151998A. Accompanying Winchester Museum Letter documents shipment from the warehouse on October 1, 1914 to William A. Groth Sons, Appleton, Wisconsin. Charged to Morley, Murphy Hardware Co., Green Bay, Wisconsin. Letter further documents Carbine, and .45/90 caliber. Currently has correct sling eyes mounted to the forearm band and stock, complete with correct sling hooks, and period leather sling. Neatly leather wrapped saddle ring. Correct carbine style express fold down rear sight and small blade front sight. CONDITION: Approximately 60% original blue blending with an overall brown patina on the barrel and magazine tube. Receiver, lever, hammer, and buttplate are mostly a gunmetal/grey patina. Wood is solid showing moderate wear with scattered light dings and dents. Action is tight and crisp. Bore is near excellent with modest abrasion. Overall a clean and desirable Model 1886 saddle ring carbine in a sought after caliber. -MKS-
