David F. Clark (D.F.C.) inspected U.S. Colt Single Action Army revolver. Accompanying revolver is a Colt archival letter dated January 25, 1992, signed by M.S. Huber, Colt Historian. Documenting Colt S.A.A serial, number 95827 as .45/C caliber, blue, sold to United States Government, delivered to U.S. Government Inspector at Colt Plant on August 10, 1883 along with 150 other guns of the same type. Revolver has standard 7 - 1/2" barrel. Blue with case hardened frame and hammer. One piece walnut grips. D.F.C inspection stamps observed on bottom of barrel at the breech, cylinder, bottom of grips, and frame. Sub-inspection stamps observed on trigger guard and backstrap. Matching serial number 95827 observed on frame, trigger guard, backstrap, cylinder, and barrel under the ejector housing. Faint U.S. observed on frame. No cartouche visible on grips. Complete with correct Indian Wars period U.S. marked holster, belt, and .45-70 carbine cartridge pouch. CONDITION: Very fine, with traces of original blue on barrel and ejector housing. Faint traces of case color on hammer. Overall a pleasing, clean gunmetal grey/brown patina. Grips are reconditioned with an old varnished finish. Leather items are excellent showing modest wear. Overall an attractive and honest U.S. Colt Single Action with correct period holster rig. -MKS-
