Lot consists of (A) Suriage blade with second mekugi-ana through nakago. Signature on left side of nakago. Tsuba with roped border. Catscratch habaki. Active choji-midare temper line. "Mekugi" in the form of a dragon that has a crudely manufactured screw, female side with floral motif. Attractive fuchi kashira with florals. Black lacquer saya with vacant slot at koiguchi. CONDITION: Good. Blade is mostly in polish with some areas of old oxidation that have been cleaned, some shintetsu and delamination. Boshi and kissaki clearly reformed when blade shortened. Saya has numerous bumps and bruises, some of the work of mounting furniture rough, kurigata loose. Hamon is attractive and easily visible. (B) Ubu nakago. Signed on left side of nakago. Stepped habaki. Some remnants of a choji midare hamon visible. Tsuka with World War II officer style mounts and locking piece. World War II officer's saya painted black. CONDITION: Someone attempted to sharpen or clean the cutting edge at one point, obliterating all but the barest traces of the hamon. Boshi with pitting and extensive darkness, and several chips. Tsuka-ito a rewrap. Tsuba and fuchi kashira are good with traces of gilding. Saya is fine with handling marks and flaking of paint throughout. EW
