Heer Gebirgsjaeger officer visor cap made in an early war Feldgrau wool with very light soiling and no other damage. A dark green wool center band and medium green piping are undamaged. The hand applied Heer bullion wreath, and aluminum eagle and cockade are originally applied and exhibit patina. An aluminum stemless Edelweiss appears to be originally applied to the front. Silver bullion chin cord is undamaged. The black vulkanfibre visor exhibits crazing throughout, with a dark green crosshatch pattern underside with light wear. The interior is fully lined in a tan rayon with moderate to heavy staining. A well-marked quality celluloid sweatshield is present with the maker mark of "HEINRICH BALKE Mutzenfabrik, BREMEN", as well as the stitched name tag of "Jung". The leather sweatband has heavy damage from being worn, with sewn repairs and approximately 15% of it missing. A very uncommon cap. CONDITION: Very good to excellent. WZ
