Heer Infantry enlisted 17th Infantry Regiment visor cap made in a tricot Feldgrau wool with approximately a dozen tiny moth nips. A dark green wool center band and white piping are undamaged. Heer Tombak eagle, wreath, and cockade appear to be originally applied, with patina. A Tombak skull and crossbones emblem, which identifies the unit as the 17th Regiment, appears to be original to the cap with approximately 50% of its silver wash remaining. Enlisted patent leather chin cord exhibits moderate heat damage with black painted steel fittings. The black vulkanfibre visor and green crosshatch pattern underside both have light wear. The interior is fully lined in a tan cotton twill with light aging, and the size of "57" is ink stamped on the head liner. Celluloid sweatshield is present with a couple of loose threads. Medium brown leather sweatband has only light wear. CONDITION: Excellent plus. WZ
