This is an ubu (unshortened) mumei (unsigned) shinto blade 26-5/8" (67.6cm) in length. Wood grain hada and a hamon (temper line) suggesting a Mino province origin. The tsuba is iron with a bird in flight above foliage. The fuchi kashira are iron with a turtle motif. The sculpted lacquered scabbard is most unusual and is decorated with crushed Abalone shells. CONDITION: Katana is in full polish. Some scattered openings in the blade. Scabbard with some scattered losses to abalone.
