This dagger most likely began its life as an early produced SA Dagger before being converted, by the factory, to the Chained NSKK Model. The blade is maker marked for the firm "Justinwerk, Solingen" and exhibits nice factory cross graining with mild runner marks and light scattered freckling. The cross guards of the dagger are made of nickel, both have been polished and now shine brightly. The lower cross guard is Gau stamped "BO" for the Gau "Bayerische Ostmark". The dark walnut grip is undamaged and features nicely inlaid nickel silver grip eagle and SA roundel. The factory black painted scabbard has a small dent on the obverse side, and two paint blemishes on the reverse. The upper throat and lower drag fittings are made of nickel silver, which has also been polished brightly. The nickel plated brass based center band shows areas of the brass peaking through the high points. The NSKK chain is made of nickel as well, indicating early manufacture, and has developed a nice light patina throughout. The reverse of the chain is marked for the NSKK. The belt clip is made of plated steel and functions correctly. CONDITION:Overall Excellent. D.W.
