Lot consists of (A) Ubu nakago with vivid yasurime filing marks. Signed on both sides of nakago and at spine. Plain habaki. Water tempered blade with straight hamon. Japanese officer's mounts, with plastic rayskin under the tsuka-ito, appropriate for a late war sword. Gilt floral menuki. Officer's saya painted black. CONDITION: Good. Blade is mostly in full polish with a some areas of light oxidation, 1 in the distinct shape of a finger print. 1 minor microchip in cutting edge. Mounts are very good, saya has been painted black. Tsuka-uto is tight, plastic rayskin was not cut to an appropriate length and some tsuka wood can be seen under fuchi kashira. (B) Suriage blade with second mekugi-ana when remounted in Navy military mounts. Yasurime is visible but softened as a result of cleaning. Left side of nakago signed. Water tempered blade with straight hamon. Late war Naval mounts. CONDITION: Good. Blade is mostly in polish with a few markings and some cloudiness at the cutting edge that could be polished out, and some minor openings. Mounts are very good as late war produced and somewhat rushed. Nakago has been cleaned. A nice Naval sword. EW
