Winchester Model 1873 rifle. Chambered in .22 Short. Special ordered 26" octagon barrel with full length magazine. Plain straight grain walnut stock and forearm. Rifle style crescent buttplate. Plain trigger. Accompanying the rifle is a Winchester Museum letter dated February 3, 1994, signed by Howard Madaus. Letter confirms configuration including the 26" octagon barrel, and shipment on February 25, 1888 in a shipment of 18 other arms to order number 5095. CONDITION: Very good overall. Metal is a grey/brown patina overall. Wood is sound showing moderate to heavy wear. Bore is dark, action is tight. -MKS-
