Shoe lump barrels with brass bead front sight on machine matted rib with later added scope mounts that cut through what used to be an address in Stuttgart, now only "BLEN, STUTTGART". Both barrels with "SPECIAL - GEWEHR - LAUF - / STAHL // (Triple rings) // FRIED. KRUPP. A.G. / ESSEN" steel designation. Tight well executed scroll at breeches, with rib featuring a small portrait of a hunter with his rifle and surrounded by scroll. Hidden third fastener. Barrel flats with German diagnostic proofs and Sauer and Sohn double S proof. Sling eye on island screwed to rib. Left side of lump with a shepard. Splinter forend with Anson release with point pattern checkering, exterior of iron and release decorated with well executed florals and scrollwork, release button surrounded by geometrics. Hand detachable sidelocks with scroll and florals throughout, bottom of receiver with "J.P. SAUER & SOHN, SUHL" in reserve amongst more floral and scroll, and cocking indicators. Recoil shield, trigger guard, and tang engraved en suite. Neat grip safety along tang. Action flats with proofs. Wood is a well marbled walnut with English straight grip, point pattern checkering at wrist, terminating in a horn buttplate. CONDITION: Very good as partly rehabilitated. Barrels retain most of their black with some minor handling marks from operation and handling and a few spots of age related patina. Wood is excellent as sanded and refinished, checkering recut, with only very minor marks. Receiver has even light oxidation throughout, but engraving is still quite visible, crisp, and highly attractive, with just a little age related patina to finish. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bores are excellent, bright and shiny, with a few minor starting areas of roughness. EW
