Small brass foresight on slightly raised tapering machine matted rib with milled out reserve near breech with "J.P. Sauer & Sohn, Suhl". Both barrels with "Special - Gewehr - Lauf - / Stahl // (Triple rings) // Fried. Krupp. A. G. / Essen" steel designation. Sling swivel on island screwed to rib. Underside of barrels with "345967" and Sauer double S mark, and German post-War proofs. 1 - 1/2" wedges of scroll at breeches with urn shaped rib extension, engraved with punch dot and florals. Barrels relieved for sideclips. Last three of serial number on inside of forend with diminutive schnabel tip, Deely release and point pattern checkering. Deely release and exterior iron engraved with scroll, florals, and geometrics. Action flat with German post-War proof and Sauer double S mark. Scalloped boxlock action with vignettes depicting roe buck and doe deer running through a wooded scene on left side and a covey of pheasant on right, bottom with a turkey mid call. Surrounding vignettes scroll and florals. Recoil shields relief engraved with florals with sideclips and small border engraving. Tang with punch dot line border and automatic safety. Pistol grip with sidepanels and checkered at wrist in point panel. Buttcap decorated with punch dots and lines. Shadowline cheekpiece, skeleton buttplate with crosshatch beaded decorations over checkered butt. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrels are tight on face and retain the virtually all of their blacking with a few light marks from field use. Engraving is crisp. Wood is excellent with some marks from handling and field use, and some crazing and lifting mostly towards buttstock and where sidepanels meet boxlock. Action works appropriately when operated by hand, bores are very good, bright and shiny, with some beginning oxidation at breeches. Ejectors are well timed. A great example of German craftsmanship.
