Sepia toned photo of Chief Goose by D.F. Barry. Photo measures 6-7/8" X 9-1/8". Noted on the reverse is "Chief Goose. Sioux Scout taken when they were on the Warpath in 1879". The reverse retains part of an original label from the D.F. Barry studio. On the front is the imprinted stamp "Copyright D.F. Barry". Chief Goose, who was born in 1834 and died in 1916, was the Head Scout on the Custer Expedition into the Black Hills. Handsome image of Chief Goose. CONDITION: Very good. Upper left corner has a small piece of scotch tape present. The reverse has remnants of black paper, possible from having been affixed in a scrapbook at some time. Photo has possibly been trimmed. CG
