Watercolor on paper by Frank English (1854 - 1922), circa 1905. English was born in Louisville, Kentucky and attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in 1881 to 1882 and studied under Thomas Eakins and Thomas Anshutz. He is primarily known for his watercolors depicting the countryside around his home, Claymont, near the Delaware River and his travels to England, Holland and Nova Scotia. In 1904 he moved to Philadelphia and five years later settled in Bucks County. He exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Art Club of Philadelphia, and was included in the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco in 1915.
