(A) Printed parade cotton 39 star flag; 17" x 12". 39 stars is an unofficial flag because of the introduction of North Dakota (39) and South Dakota (40) at one time, instead of as a single state (formerly the Dakota territory). Manufacturers anticipated a single state, rather than two and produced reasonably large numbers of new flags of the 39 star count. CONDITION: Faded, fold lines, minor losses and holes. (B) Printed cotton flag with 45 stars. Celebrating the admission of Utah as a state, official for 12 years, 1896 to 1908. CONDITION: Faded, staining and losses. KK
