Charles Hazard was a Baltimore Sun artist and a Civil War historian. He was an expert on the Battle of Gettysburg and the National Park Service commissioned him to create 14 drawings of the battle. The drawings are on display at the Museum and Visitor Center at the Gettysburg National Military Park. This group of sketches were preparatory drawings by Hazard for the Gettysburg series.
