Lot consists of: (A) Swiss Schmidt Rubin 1889 bolt action rifle. Rifle has been heavily sporterized with both the barrel and stock being cut. Matching serials on the barrel, frame, bolt and front sight. No visible import mark. Round steel barrel with blade front sight and adjustable rear sight. Blued finish with on the barrel and receiver. Original stock has been cut down on the fore end and a rubber butt pad has been added. CONDITION: Metal retains 70% of its original finish with areas of wear and some light freckles of surface rust. Stock is solid overall with numerous handling marks, and scratches. Frosted bore with sharp rifling. Mechanically fine. (B) Argentine 1891 Mauser bolt action rifle. Made 1894 under contract for Argentine, at the Loewe plant in Berlin. Rifle has been sporterized. Matching numbers. No import mark. Crest has been ground. Round steel barrel with a blade front sight (not original), and an added Williams rear peep sight. The standard rear leaf sight is missing. Blued finish on the receiver and barrel. Aftermarket wood stock with an oil finish and hard plastic butt plate. CONDITION: Metal retains 80% of its original finish with light wear and handling marks. Stock is very good with minor hand marks and scratches. Heavily frosted bore with fair rifling left. Mechanically fine.
