Lot consists of a Japanese Type 38 carbine, Type 38 rifle, and Type 99 rifle. (A) Series 2 Type 38 carbine manufactured by Kokura. Receiver retains it's chrysanthemum. Bolt does not match. CONDITION: Metal components retain most of their arsenal applied blue finish, showing areas of corrosion and light rust all around. Fair bore with good rifling throughout. Stock is good, showing age and marks from storage and handling all around. (B) Series 34 Type 99 manufactured by Toyo Kogyo. The receiver is only marked with the chrysanthemum and not the model designation, which is appropriate for this series of Type 99 rifles. This rifle exhibits late war production methods, including the wood buttplate, crudely welded safety knob, and the use of aircraft sights without the wings. Bolt matches the receiver. CONDITION: Metal components retain the majority of their arsenal applied finish, showing areas of corrosion and light rust all around. Bore is bright and retains good rifling throughout. Stock is good, showing some marks from storage and use. (C) Type 38 rifle manufactured by Koishikawa with no series marking. Receiver retains the chrysanthemum, though it is soft. No matching numbers. CONDITION: Metal components retain good amounts of their arsenal applied finish, showing thinning, wear, and corrosion all around. Bore is dark, but retains good rifling throughout. Stock shows handling marks as well as a loss to the wood around the right of the rear sight. A nice collector's lot of WWII era Japanese rifles. MLW
