Scarce Colt Burgess rifle, made between 1883-1885 for a total production of 6,403. 25-1/2" octagon barrel with a full length magazine tube. Chambered in .44-40 W.C.F. cartridge. Blue with plain straight grain walnut stock and forearm. Rifle style crescent buttplate. CONDITION: Good, with a brown/grey patina on the barrel and magazine tube. Frame is a mottled grey patina. Wood has been lightly sanded showing modest wear. Bore is turning dark with good rifling. Action functions properly. -MKS-
