Sharps Model 1878 Single Shot Rifle with 32" barrel chambered in .45-70 Government with military type ladder rear sight and blade front. 2 piece walnut stock and forearm complete with checkered steel shotgun buttplate. CONDITION: Very good with bluing beginning to fade to a blue-gray patina. Barrel has wear mark from barrel band on military style full-length stock. Forearm has been filled in where cleaning rod was at one point (this is probably a "sporterized" military rifle). Modest wear on barrel with some scattered handling and storage marks. Receiver assembly has some heavy freckling from poor storage. Stocks have been sanded and refinished but are strong with slight cracking and gouging at wrist of stock near tang. Large chip at right of forearm near receiver face. Action works correctly and is tight. Bore is bright with frosting, especially near muzzle and good rifling. -TN-
