1884 vintage Marlin Model 1881 lever action rifle serial number 8756. 28" octagon barrel chambered in .40-60 Marlin with full length magazine tube, standard rear sight, and brass blade front that was filed down in the "express" style. Two piece plain walnut stock and forearm with rifle forearm cap and rifle buttplate. CONDITION: Very good with metal assemblies faded to a dove-gray patina with light freckling from storage and heavy usage marks. Stock and forearm are good as sanded and refinished with heavy gouging, scratching, and wear. Repaired chip at upper tang on right. Cracks at upper tang, left of wrist at receiver, and upper tang of buttplate. Action works correctly. Bore is dark with visible rifling. -TN-
