Diminutive blade front sight with single leaf standing notch rear sight on smooth rib, signed "LONDON" over breech. Damascus twist barrels with British proofs on underside, two "8" stamps, and truing strike between breech and barrels. Hooked patent breeches. Brass tipped ramrod with worm, possibly the original, retained by two ferrules, fore ferrule with sling eye. Relatively plain locks with simple line borders with "WESTLEY RICHARDS" engraved on both sides. English push on safeties. Dolphin form hammers. Double triggers. Wrist checkered throughout in point pattern. Sling eye at toe. Right side of stock with a well inlet patchbox. Buttstock with a very interesting "Y O" with Y being a rather fancy script, meaning unknown. Side of buttplate relieved for patchbox. CONDITION: Very good, in untampered with condition. Barrels are brown patina throughout, mixed with some old oxidation, underside is dove grey where protected by forearm. Metal is brown throughout on stock. Wood has been sanded and refinished with some softness to sharp edges, and numerous bumps and bruises acquired from a lifetime of use; one distinct chip on left side of forearm, and two tight cracks at wrist that appear stable. Bores are very good with strong rifling and smooth oxidation throughout. EW
