Colt Model 1855 Revolving Percussion Rifle, serial number 3774, made between 1856 and 1864. Blued round rifled 24" barrel with pinned blade front sight and 2 blade flip rear sight with one barrel band. Blued frame with 5 shot fluted cylinder marked on flute "Patented Sept 10th 1856" and on top strap "Colt Hartford CT U.S. A.". Case hardened hammer and lever. Walnut plain stock with trap buttplate. Walnut forestock with brass nosepiece. Comes with 1 piece rod in trap and non-original rod with Mauser 98K leather sling. CONDITION: Rifle looks to be a cut down rifle possibly cut down many years ago with age matching short 1 band forestock. Metal parts have silvery gray appearance with some light pitting. Stock has old period repair at wrist with dark oil soaked finish. Bore has visible rifling with good mechanics. DLM
