1882 vintage Winchester Model 1876 lever action 3rd model carbine, serial number 28265. 22" round barrel chambered in .45-75 Winchester Centerfire with adjustable leaf rear sight with graduations from 200-1000 yards and blade front. 2 piece plain walnut stock and forearm with "carbine/musket" forearm cap, saddle ring, and carbine buttplate. According to "The Winchester Book" by George Madis, only 1 in every 8 Winchester 1876s manufactured was not a rifle. CONDITION: Very good with metal assemblies retaining most of their added finish with moderate wear and storage marks. Elevator has been polished, with the brass now shiny and bright but caliber marking is not present. Stock and forearm are excellent as sanded and refinished with minor cracking at heel near buttplate tang and moderate wear from handling and use. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand. Bore is frosted with visible rifling. -TN-
