Model 1906 Luger manufactured by DWM under contract for Holland. Approximately 4,000 Model 1906 Lugers were manufactured by DWM for the Netherlands, with plans for another order of 400 Lugers being cancelled in 1914 due to the outbreak of the First World War and the German military's need to procure more Lugers. The left side of the receiver is stamped with a Dutch crown over "W" for Queen Wilhelmina, followed by a 5-pointed star, indicating that this Luger was captured by the Tentara Nasional Indonesia (Indonesian Republican Army). The top of the barrel is stamped "1918" indicating the date of refurbishment. Toggle bears the "DWM" monogram. Safety is marked "RUST". All numbers are matching, including the magazine, with the exception of the receiver axle which is mismatched and the checkered wood grips, which are unnumbered. Locking bolt, sideplate, trigger, trigger bar, breechblock, and rear toggle link are matching via the last three digits of the serial number with remaining matching numbers retaining the last two digits. CONDITION: Metal components retain bountiful amounts of their Dutch arsenal reapplied blue finish, exhibiting a few small nicks showing through to silvering as well as areas of pitting beneath the finish. Strawed components are excellent, retaining virtually all of their arsenal reapplied finish. Bore is bright, exhibiting oxidation and fair rifling throughout. Grips show some light smoothing overall, with the right grip panel bearing two cracks running vertically along the interior of the grip. Magazine wood bottom bears a couple stress cracks, but is otherwise fine. A rare and very attractive DWM Model 1906 Dutch Luger. MLW
