P.08 manufactured by DWM in 1917 and reworked in 1920 in accordance with the Treaty of Versailles. Receiver is marked "1920/1917" over the chamber, with the receiver retaining both DWM military acceptance proofs and "(Crown) N" proof on the right side. Frame retains "(Crown) N" proof on the right side. Toggle bears the DWM monogram. Sideplate is military proofed, with the breechblock retaining both military and "(Crown) N" proofs. Front grip strap has its former unit marking of "S. L. Pol. 2591" crossed out, with "S.P./ C." below it. Matching numbers include the frame, locking bolt, trigger, receiver, trigger bar, toggles, breechblock, and extractor. Numbers appear to have been force matched at the time of arsenal refurbishment. Receiver axle appears to be a replacement. CONDITION: Metal components retain the vast majority of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting few small areas of wear. Strawed components retain traces of their former finish. Bright bore, with strong lands and grooves throughout. Checkered walnut grips show smoothing and few areas of wear. -MLW-
